Terri's nursing career began in 1977 with graduation from Northwestern Michigan College (With Honors) as a Registered Nurse. Her undergraduate work was completed at Central Michigan University (Magna Cum Laude) in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Education. Following graduation, she was employed for nearly 20 years in a hospital setting primarily as an obstetrical nurse, but also as House Supervisor, OB Supervisor, and Patient Educator. Terri received certification by NCC as “Inpatient Obstetrical Nurse”, and was very proud to be awarded by her peers the honor of “Registered Nurse of the Year.”
In 1998, she graduated from Michigan State University with a Masters Degree in Nursing, and was certified by the ANCC as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Currently working in a collaborative practice with Dr. William Nowak as a Nurse Practitioner in Women’s Health, Terri is married with three adult children and currently works full-time to provide nursing and medical services to women of Northern Michigan. In her practice, she puts an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention, with areas of interest and specialty in menopause and hormone replacement therapy, initial female exams, teenage and young adult health education, and interstitial cystitis. Her goal is to provide “individualized” health care to women.
Terri's favorite pasttimes include attending CMU football games, watching football and baseball games, sunning at the beach with her family and friends. Terri became a grandmother for the first time on 3/4/06 to a beautiful baby girl, Elyse Faith. Terri welcomed her second grandchild, Maren Julia Brayton on September 19, 2007, and welcomed her third granddaughter, Brooke Brayton, in March 2010.
